Helium Diffusion in Stars
Astronomers, namely J. A. Guzik, are using diffusion to explain why certain stars have unusual qualities. The stars in question are called Delta Scuti stars, and the unusual quality is the shape of these stars' light curves, or intensity change with respect to time, as the stars tend to pulsate. Mr. Guzik proposes that the stars unusual light curves can be explained by helium diffusion phenomena in the cooler, outer parts of the star.
