Readme.txt 6/17/98 ========== This is the Windows 95/NT distribution of HumPop/IntlPop. Files in this directory: (Note: In the following file list, XX stands for digits used as a version number for the distribution files.) ipdstXXX.zip IntlPop distribution file for Windows 95/NT. zhpopXX.exe Main HumPop distribution file. zmigvXX.exe Migration vocabulary file. ztut1XX.exe HumPop tutorial file 1. ztut2XX.exe HumPop tutorial file 2. ztut3XX.exe HumPop tutorial file 3. readme.txt (this file) Descriptions, installation instructions, and hardware/software requirements of IntlPop and HumPop. * Be sure you switch to 'binary' mode before transferring these files to your system. Simply type 'binary' at the ftp prompt. IntlPop ------- IntlPop is a population change simulation program. Factors such as Birth Rate, Life Expectancy, and Migration Rate affect population growth. IntlPop allows you to manipulate these variables and simulate population growth based on your values. You do NOT need to install HumPop to use IntlPop. HumPop ------ HumPop is a multimedia tutorial program that runs under Windows 95 HumPop introduces and illustrates population concepts and issues. Users unfamiliar with such concepts should follow the tutorial before running simulations with IntlPop. HumPop will allow you to run IntlPop from within it be pressing the BEGIN SIMULATION button. We recommend that you install IntlPop with HumPop, but HumPop will run without IntlPop (but of course you won't be able to run the simulation). Installation ================================= The HumPop tutorals are distributed as a self-extracting compressed archive. To install, first create a new folder. Next, place all of the HumPop distribution files listed above in this folder, and execute each one by double clicking on it. The intlpop distribution file ipdstXXX.zip is a zip archive. A utility which extracts zip archives is required to install intlpop. This version of intlpop runs ONLY in the 32-bit Windows environment (Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 3.1 with Win32s installed).
