Readme.txt 3/1/96 ========== Files in this directory: intlpop_SPARCstation208.tar.Z IntlPop v2.0.8 distribution file. readme.txt (this file) Description, installation instructions, and hardware/software requirements of IntlPop. * Be sure you switch to 'binary' mode before transferring this file to your system. Simply type 'binary' at the ftp prompt. IntlPop ------- IntlPop is a population change simulation program. Factors such as Birth Rate, Life Expectancy, and Migration Rate affect population growth. IntlPop allows you to manipulate these variables and simulate population growth based on your values. The version of IntlPop in this directory runs on SPARCstations under X-Windows. Installation ========= This program is distributed as a 'tarred' and 'compress'ed archive file. 1) Locate the distribution files. 2) Uncompress the file intlpop_SPARCstation208.tar.Z: type: uncompress intlpop_SPARCstation208.tar 3) Untar the file intlpop_SPARCstation208.tar type: tar -xvf intlpop_SPARCstation208.tar The programs files will be extracted under the subdirectory named intlpop that will be created under your current working directory. Running the Programs. ===================== To run IntlPop: 1) Change to the directory to which it was installed 2) Type: intlpop & Requirements to Run IntlPop ====================================== Hardware Requirements --------------------- - SPARCstation - Mouse - 2.5 MB Hard drive space.
